Business has always been an early adoptee of digital trends – from the PC to the Internet. The success of Facebook to Twitter is as much about consumer behaviour as it is about corporate and business behaviour. The digital revolution from the birth of tablet computing – like Apple’s iPad – to other forms of technology from the smart phone to the cloud computing platforms have changed the way business is undertaken. Productivity, innovation and time/cost saving attributes have all been born due to the technological advance’s of the world’s digital services and platforms.

However, we are still very much connected to our physical worlds. Nowhere is that more apt than in our preference to physical Christmas cards over E-cards? The school curriculum even teaches children and teenagers about “living in a digital world“. Consumers, much like business, have become partners in a digital world. We use smart phones, smart televisions, own tablets, ipods and sat navs. We engage with the world through the auspices of ‘apps’ and ‘websites’. It is possible, in a world of digital services, to literally book to register a birth and, on the other end of the spectrum, book to register a death online. It is possible to engage with every aspect of human life through the internet – from finance to health and a whole lot more in between.

E-cards and The Digital World

However, we as a people, have a certain attachment with certain products – eBooks and books are a great example. Surveys claim upwards of 80% of consumers prefer digital downloads of music or films but only 22% prefer digital book downloads. The large majority find it more enjoyable to ‘physically’ read a paper book. There is another aspect and that is gift cards or festive cards. We enjoy giving cards, but we don’t really use digital e-cards that much, why?

Digital e-cards are great ways of extending your festive reach to your social networks. It means you can be conscientious about the environment whilst thinking proactively about money saving ways of distributing and purchasing your cards? Businesses are facing a tough festive period – the tremors of Financial crises of 2008 are still evident in the slow growth figures posted by the British economy. As such, businesses need to focus on cutting costs whilst avoiding being seen as irrelevant.

As a business manager, why not consider one of the many e-card services to help you digitally create and distribute your festive cards this year? One such company is www.Eco2Greetings.com, an innovative and environmentally aware e-card retailer. It’s environmental credentials are incredible – for every customer purchase they plant 10 real trees. Not only do you save paper by using an e-card but they also plant trees in your honour. It’s all very easy, you simply pick a template, add your details, add some festive music and voila, you have your e-card! It’s that simple.

The card represents a new way of living in the digital world without losing those important parts of human life – now you and your clients, consumers and friends, can enjoy e-Cards that can bring together your business’s social networks with some real festive cheer and not only will you save money but you will also play a small part in helping the environment.
