As web technology has entered into new phase in 2012, and made it easier to construct a business website by your own hands. More people adopting the do-it-myself approach, though, there are numerous websites out there that don’t quite gain the details right. Consulting a professional web designer to build it for you, or even just to support you with the deep technical features, could be a decent step to avoid this riddle.

To obtain a professional web design and evade making a disaster website, it’s imperative that you know what you are trying to accomplish before you actually start to draw lines.

Branding your business

Branding plays very vital role in over all performance of you online business so make sure your business branding is right before you get start or spend any money on building a website.

Business goals of website

It is not sufficient to just ‘appear online’ before that your website should have a clear purpose. Ask yourself what this website should achieve for the business? You need to create a list of goals you want to achieve on your website as per their importance.

First impression of web design

There are many factors that play role in creating first impression of your business website, but the most crucial one is how you use images in your web design. If you want to welcome online visitors with an impressive image, it’s significant that it works to speak out what your business is all about.

Compare competitors

One more good way to measure what your website needs to accomplish as a business design is to weigh against your competitors. It’s essential to inspect how your competitors present their business online before you create your own.

Edit options

It is quite crucial for a small business to be able to modify the basic content that appears on its web pages without need of any external assistance. Website designers prefer to use WordPress and Drupal as these facilitate their users in CMS to edit content easily; it is good to use these to build your website.

It is not the end

Lastly, keep in mind that a website is never completed, as customer demands and web designing fashions keep on changing, so should your website.

It doesn’t mean that your website needs a redesign after every couple of months; simply you need to keep an eye on how your website appears in the context of latest trends of market and keep your web design as per the need of the day.

The charismatic Microsoft chief must have taken his retirement from the company after a 33-year stint; however, Bill Gates has left behind a legacy, which is incomparable and can hardly be challenged. The legacy is of course of the foresightedness, which enabled him and his team to think ahead of time. And Microsoft Surface is one such technological wonder which is slowing and steadily taking the world by storm.

Since the first commercial purchase of MS Surface by telecommunications giant AT&T for its retail stores and a high profile debut in a casino bar in Las Vegas, Microsoft Surface is fast picking up demand. One such deal, which is making news, is Paccar Inc., the maker of Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks.

Although its decision to sign up to use Microsoft’s Surface computers raised quite some eyebrows about the presumption to use ‘tabletop Surface computers in trucks!’; the company later clarified that the Surface computers are not to be used in trucks but to be used by Paccar customers, to order automobile parts at the Paccar dealership offices.

//-->

However, the company is yet to make any formal announcement about the new technological implementation. Internal company reports suggests that those present at the Paccar’s annual meeting in Bellevue had the privilege to witness the personalized Microsoft Surface computer with a specialized application for ordering truck parts.
The important features of the customized tabletop computer were that, customers can log in just by laying down an account card. The account card on being recognized by the computer will allow the user (customer) to view virtual brochures and videos, and even place an order to make purchases by dragging icons into a shopping cart.
Microsoft Surface has also found an avid admirer in Democratic National Convention (DNC). It has named Microsoft Corp. as the official provider of software and Web content for the 2008 event to be held on August 25-28, 2008 in Denver. Democratic National Convention Committee, confirming the reports has acknowledged its pleasure to tie up with the technology giant.
Besides the dozen technologies and applications, DNC is hiring from Microsoft for an undisclosed amount, the all-new Microsoft Surface tabletop computer will also make its presence felt in the Convention while enabling users with interactive real life experiences in a virtual world. Moreover, DNC also has plans to rope in Microsoft’s Zune portable music players to deliver media content to convention participants. So wait and watch, while MS Surface breaks all barriers.

In a recent development, New York based real-estate development company Gale International, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the global technology giant. According to the MOU, Microsoft will offer technological assistance and infrastructure for the development of a standard computing environment in the Songdo International Business District (IBD) Project.

The planned international business center at Songdo IBD or the New Songdo City is developed on 1,500 acres of land along the coast of Incheon, 40 miles south of the capital city of Seoul. This is part of the many booming projects in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, which is witness to rapid growth in terms of real estate. It is believed that this project will bring technological renaissance and prosperity for the citizens, businesses, and government of the forthcoming Songdo International Business District in South Korea.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority commissioner, Mr. Heon-Seok Lee is highly appreciative to have Microsoft as its technology partner in its bid to develop Songdo IBD, a technology-enabled city. He is confident that Microsoft Corporation will help transcend the lesser-known city of Songdo IBD into the global map, for attracting corresponding investment and business opportunities.

And Microsoft is all set to implement its cutting edge technology in the USD 35 billion project in collaboration with Gale International. In a recent development, Microsoft and the Korean Government have plans to implement Windows Mobile and Microsoft Citizen Service Platform to provide the city with a common interface for connecting to government services.

While Windows Mobile as a compact operating system combined with a suite of basic applications for mobile devices will help in connecting the population of Songdo IBD; the Microsoft Citizen Service Platform can be prove to a major technological asset for Songdo IBD. This pioneering package of Microsoft Citizen Service Platform is designed to help government agencies in Songdo IBD, build and install modern solutions based upon standard Microsoft Products to be delivered to citizens more responsively via the internet.

In a keynote address to the Government Leaders Forum—Asia in Jakarta, Indonesia, the then Microsoft CEO Bill Gates expressed his company’s interest in developing the technological infrastructure of a new city like Songdo IBD. He referred to it as a rare opportunity indeed; to design and create an ideal technological infrastructure, with due access to digital capabilities and experiences; to bring a difference in people’s lives.

MobiComp is a company that is not very originally named, since the company focuses primarily on mobile applications. At the current moment in time, the company has been around for less than a decade but has been able to develop three mobile applications that allow for enhanced functionality on the mobile level. The Portuguese company seems to have a talent for coming up with good mobile applications, which is perhaps the main reason as to why Microsoft went out of their way to acquire MobiComp.

While Microsoft will not say as much out loud, they are desperate when it comes to the mobile market. Their operating system was not worth anything to mobile users in terms of increased efficiency and with Apple’s release of products like the iPhone, it is quite clear that the mobile market was Apple’s re-entry into the computer game. Microsoft, through its own ineptitude, allowed the practically dead Apple Company back into the market and now they are reeling as Apple goes on the offensive and starts cutting into their sales.

Microsoft appears to be serious in their rhetoric about regaining some of the market. The acquisition of MobiComp appears to be a means to that end. The combination of Microsoft’s mobile Multitouch technology and the mobile applications of MobiComp suggest products in the future that might be in a position to challenge Apple for the mobile market.

The Microsoft organization that is responsible for the implementation of new advertising technologies is the adCenter laboratory. This organization has been tasked by Microsoft with not only implementing new ideas for advertising technology, but also with developing those same ideas before they are implemented. AdCenter has been working with Multitouch technology for some time but it was only recently that the world found out just how much progress they had made.

It was at the Fourth Annual Demo Fest event staged by Microsoft that the adCenter pulled off demonstrations of prototype technologies that utilized multitouch technology and turned quite a few heads in doing so. The principle flagship item of the demonstration was a prototype computer working on multitouch technology. This computer, while similar to the Microsoft Surface, at the same time was a wholly different computer unit.

It was being demoed as a unit that could be used as an information station in a shopping mall and during this presentation Microsoft was able to show off the prowess of this multitouch unit by expanding on their previously reported ability to use a webcam and allow customers to do things like try on clothing and model jewelry. While this technology has existed for some time, the demo showed that it had made some very astounding progress since it was last displayed.

Other computer demonstrations of advertisements involved the incorporation of smart thinking machine technology and voice recognition software into the multitouch model in order to create moving advertisements that changed depending on user interaction with the computer. Microsoft’s plans for multitouch technology appear to be advancing rapidly as they come up with complimentary products to the Surface computer.

While most people know about the Microsoft Surface computer by now, at the same time there are a number of other areas within the Microsoft company where Multitouch technology is being used. For example, Microsoft has been hard at work bringing Multitouch technology to bear in terms of interactive advertising and it is something that they were able to demo earlier this week.

<!--

While Multitouch is just one avenue of advertising that Microsoft has been pursuing, at the same time it is one of the most innovative as Microsoft attempts to expand their operations and secure their bottom line. Multitouch was clearly the winner in terms of new ideas, as other advertising methods that were demoed such as the speech recognition advertising are methods that Microsoft has been working on for decades.

There were two ways in which this Multitouch advertising would be able to work from Microsoft’s demo. The first way would be to provide information on a specific product or series of products. The customer would just place something like a shoe or a candy bar onto a Surface Computer and information about that product would pop up along with served advertisements that were similar to the product being looked at. This is a very intuitive type of advertising, since it only advertises relevant products to the customer and therefore is expected to be very useful indeed.

The second form of Multitouch advertising that Microsoft was taking a look at was virtual advertising in which a customer could utilize a Surface and a webcam in order to create a virtual arena for themselves in which they could try out different products (such as clothing) before they left their home to buy it. As they were trying on clothing, different suggestions would be made based on their interests and these suggestions of course would be fuelled by money paid in advertising dollars.

Satama Interactive Plc is a leading digital services company. Our aim is to combine talent and technology to make work and client dialogue simple, fun and profitable. Our services portfolio focuses into three core business areas: Marketing, Productivity and Mobility. There are 350 experts in the Satama Group. We are based in Finland in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and in Amsterdam, Dusseldorf and Stockholm. Satama’s net sales in 2005 were EUR 27.5 million. Satama Interactive Plc (SAI1V) shares are listed on the Helsinki Exchange. / www.satama.comSatama’s Expertise at the Core of the Development of the Revolutionary Microsoft SurfaceSatama has been chosen as one of the members of Microsoft’s Surface Partner Advisory Council for the next two years. The Partner Advisory Council is an inherent element of Microsoft’s product development in Redmond, US, and it offers a chance for the partners to have a say on the contents and business models of the new product area.

Microsoft’s latest innovation, Surface, takes the possibilities and user-friendliness of computers to a completely new level. Surface combines a desk, a computer and a massive horizontal touch-screen, which reacts to human touch and objects. On the surface the device looks a little like a coffee table but the tabletop is actually a touch-screen, which can be controlled by hand – or in fact by many hands, as Surface recognises multi-touch contact.

“We are extremely delighted to have been invited to the heart of Surface’s development. Satama sees Surface as a significant long-term business opportunity in Finland and Europe. It is important for us to be able to influence the decisions that are being made in Redmond and to have a chance to steer the development of the product area and take part in planning new business models” says Esa Kanninen, Satama’s representative in the Surface Partner Advisory Council.

“It is extremely rare for a Finnish company to be invited along to the Partner Advisory Council. We see the fact that Satama was chosen as a tribute to Finnish expertise. Microsoft believes that Satama can contribute unique expertise and insight to the product development process,” says Teemu Salovaara, Partner Account Manager at Microsoft.

Thanks to its user-friendliness and interactivity, Surface is ideal for restaurants, hotels, information centres and other public facilities, for example. Surface combines Satama’s core competences: understanding customer dialogues, user experience know-how and creative design as well as expertise in Microsoft technology.

In a restaurant, for example, Surface will be able to automatically detect when a customer places a glass on it. A menu will appear, as if by magic, next to the glass. When it comes to paying the bill, Surface divides the total between the number of glasses on the table. Browsing and zooming in and out of pictures taken with a mobile phone is just as easy – just place the phone on Surface’s touch-screen.

Surface will be in the shops before the end of the year.

REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — What began in 1982 with a Microsoft(R) Mouse designed to easily navigate Microsoft Corp.’s first version of Microsoft Word has grown to an extensive lineup of innovative, indispensable products for today’s computer-centered lifestyle. Microsoft Hardware is celebrating its 25th anniversary of staying ahead of the computing curve by delivering groundbreaking peripherals that make the software and services experience better and easier. In recent years, Microsoft tapped the Microsoft Hardware Group’s rich heritage of hardware innovation as it developed the Xbox(R) video game system, Zune(TM) digital media player and the new multi-touch technology breakthrough, Microsoft Surface(TM).

(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000822/MSFTLOGO )

“The Hardware Group transformed Microsoft beyond just a software company,” said Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft. “From Xbox to Zune and now Microsoft Surface, the Hardware Group continues to lend its expertise across all Microsoft categories, helping to redefine the consumer expectation of Microsoft products.”

One Click and Software and Services Come to Life

In the same way that the first mouse from Microsoft connected with Microsoft Word, the Hardware Group continues to create easy solutions to manage and access the technologies and products that are shaping the way people use their PCs: Windows Vista(R), the 2007 Microsoft Office system, Windows Live(TM) and Games for Windows(R) titles.

“At Microsoft, we are fortunate to have the ability to integrate across all groups in ways that ultimately make life easier for our consumers,” said Tom Gibbons, corporate vice president of the Specialized Devices and Applications Group at Microsoft. “Whether it’s launching Windows Vista gadgets with the press of a button or making it so simple to have a Windows Live video call with a LifeCam, Microsoft Hardware products truly make accessing software and services a better experience.”

A History of Innovation

Over the past 25 years, Microsoft Hardware has designed and developed a wide assortment of computer peripherals to fit customer needs, from mice and keyboards to webcams, headsets and gaming devices. With products including the world’s first optical mouse, the award-winning Natural(R) line of ergonomic products and the new SideWinder(TM) Mouse that was announced today, Microsoft Hardware continues to create inventive peripherals that connect to the software and services consumers rely on to make computing easier, fun and more productive.

Numbers That Paint the Picture

Today, the Hardware Group has expanded its portfolio to offer a product line that includes 28 mice, 36 keyboards and desktops, six gaming devices, and eight products for Internet communications. The Hardware Group currently ships products in nearly 50 countries around the world and holds these key sales records:

– The No. 1 best-selling wired keyboard in the United States
– Millions of Comfort Curve keyboards sold
– The No. 1 best-selling mouse in the United States
– The No. 1 and No. 3 best-selling webcams in the desktop and notebook
categories, respectively in the United States

Important milestones from Microsoft Hardware include these:

mouse — the SideWinder Mouse.
– 2006. Microsoft takes Internet communications to the next level with
the launch of the LifeCam line.

After Changing the Face of Personal Computing & Revolutionizing the Desktop Mr.Bill Gates plans to Retire, and leave the Multi-Billion Dollar Company soon by next year. Below is the transcript of the Article by John Markoff at NYTimes with Mr.Gates, Craig Mundie (head of research and strategy,MS) and Ray Ozzie (software architect,MS)

Microsoft’s founder, Bill Gates, flanked by his designated successors: Craig Mundie, left, head of research and strategyMr. Gates, Microsoft’s 51-year-old chairman, shows no sign of fading away. One year into a planned two-year transition, there are few visible cues that Mr. Gates is ready to leave the world’s technology stage to devote his energies principally to the $33 billion foundation he established seven years ago with his wife. Indeed at the company’s annual financial meeting last week Mr. Gates spoke first, outlining a decade-long agenda, not a mere 12-month outlook. He described a world in which the widespread availability of broadband networks would reshape computing, giving rise to what he said would be “natural user interfaces” like pen, voice and touch, replacing many functions of keyboards and mice. Mr. Gates has stayed deeply engaged in the company’s technology strategy. He still frequently participates in high-level strategy planning sessions with Microsoft’s closest partners, like Intel, according to executives who have attended the meetings. During a wide-ranging interview last week exploring his diminished role at Microsoft, the company’s challenge and its competitors, Mr. Gates insisted that he really has begun stepping back.
